Think Simple

“Take a different view to simplify things and make life easier to live…”

Recently I read a story about the dilemma of a car manufacturer and how a layman helped to resolve the problem. This is how it goes…

An engineer in a car manufacturing company designs a world class car. The CEO is impressed with the outcome and showered him with lots of praises.

While trying to bring out the car from the manufacturing area to the showroom, they realised that the car is two inches higher than the entrance.

The engineer felt bad that he did not notice this before creating the car.

The CEO was in a dilemma on how to move the car out of the manufacturing area.

The painter said that there will be a few scratches on the roof of the car which could be touched up if they are to move the car to the showroom.

The engineer offered to break the entrance to move the car out of the manufacturing area and do up the entrance later.

The CEO was not convinced with any of the suggestions and felt that it is a bad sign to break the wall or scratch a newly manufactured car.

A watchman was observing the episode and slowly approached the CEO to offer his suggestion.

The experts wondered what this watchman could suggest that the experts could not.

The watchman said, “Since the car is only a few inches higher than the entrance, simply releasing the air from the tyres, the height of the car will sink. Then the car can be easily move out of the manufacturing area.”

Everyone clapped!

Many a time we view things in our perspective, instead of taking a holistic view. There are times we over analyse the problem when the problem can be resolved in the most simplistic manner. Such situations could happen in both our professional and personal life.

Take a step back, do not over analyse the problem, be open to suggestions.

Think Simple.
