It’s Not This Time of Year Without the Baby in the Manger

Christmas is barely 25 days away. I usually put up Christmas decoration at my home a month before Christmas. I am not into massive Christmas decoration rather I prefer simple decoration that expressed the meaning of Christmas. My Christmas decoration is Baby in the Manger.

I love toys, to be specific I love toys that I can build, put together, assemble. I enjoy the process of building and feel happy seeing the end product. I am referring to Lego, Play Mobil and Ban Dai toys.

This is my Christmas decoration at my home – Baby in the Manger.

Away In A Manger

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head,
The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay,
The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,
But little Lord Jesus no crying he makes.
I love you, Lord Jesus; look down from the sky,
And stay by my side until morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask you to stay
Close by me for ever, and love me, I pray.
Bless all the dear children in your tender care,
And fit us for heaven, to live with you there.

Indeed it’s not this time of the year without the celebration of the birth of the Lord Jesus.

What is Christmas to you?

  1. As much as I love to see these sets, i have this bad thinking that lego does collect dust when you display it. So i avoid buying stuff like that. Perhaps I’m too practical. Lovely to see though. Christmas has evolved so much that business minded people have taken over the world. Christmas is more like a must give presents day rather than remembering the day Christ came down to earth. Sad to say that many of us are very much guilty of this.

    1. Yeah, I only display this Play Mobil set during Christmas and will clean and pack it after Christmas. The rest of my Lego sets are in display cabinets. But not dust proof of course. As to the meaning of Christmas, when we walked along Orchard Road, sadly only Tangs Christmas display tells the true meaning of Christmas.

  2. I have two nativity sets – a rather large one our family made years ago and a small wooden one. Over the past couple of years, it is the smaller one that gets brought out. Christmas decorations wouldn’t be complete without one displayed. A local news anchor was joking that today there wouldn’t be a need for a stable just a reservation at airbnb. 🙂
