Central Vietnam, Da Nang, Ba Na Hills
After breakfast, we went to Ba Na Hills with a local guide that we booked through the resort concierge. For my first day at Da Nang, check Da Nang – Day 1.
The local guide met us at Furama Resort and brought us to the Suoi Mo Station for our cable car ride to Ba Na Hills. The ride up took around 20 minutes. We started a conversation with the young couple sitting across from us. They are from the Southern part of China and they started their tour at Hanoi and then to Da Nang. We exchanged our travel experience in Vietnam.
After 20 mins ride on the cable car, we reached Ba Na Hills. Finally, we came face to face with the big statue of Shakyamuni, the statue that we saw along the way up from afar. It is made of concrete, measuring 27m high.
After walking around the garden, we got on another cable car to the Morin Station, to visit the Fantasy Park. The theme of the Park is based on the novel – Journey to the Center of the Earth and Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea by French writer, Jules Verne. There are 3 floors, you get to play 5 free games – bumper car, thrilling flyer, mirror house and Jurassic Park on the 1st floor, and 29m high drop and twist tower on the third floor. The child in me went for the bumper car. 🙂
After checking out the Fantasy Park, we had late lunch at Ba Na Hills and went back to the hotel to relax by the beach.
About Bà Nà Hills
25 km to the southwest of Da Nang at an altitude of 1,487m, Ba Na Hills are considered as “One temperate place in the tropical forest” because the climate is cool all the year round and you can enjoy four seasons within a single day. The Hill Station was founded in 1919 by French colonists. The Ba Na cable cars, opened on 29 March 2013, hold two Guinness World Records: the world’s longest single cable car system (5,042.62 m long) and the world highest gap between its departure and arrival station (1,291.81 m high).

Getting There: Around 35km from Da Nang City and 70 km from Hoi An, the easiest way to Ba Na Hills is to arrange a private transfer as it is difficult to get a taxi there to return to the city.

LOL, wow fantasy castle is really interesting! Was it themed with some character or just made out like a castle?

As I said the Fantasy Park’s theme is based on the novels by French writer, Jules Verne. It is a fantasy, adventure theme park. We did not come across anyone dressed up as certain characters. It is more for children rather than adults. No idea why the theme park owner built the place like a castle.

Seems so out of place! And Jules wasn’t really a cartoon character guy – more futuristic sort…

Yup, not exactly worth making that trip to the Fantasy Park as it is more for children

You see, this is the whole point. Telling the good and not so good. Now the rest of us learned! Can’t really get that from instagram or Tripadvisors – because it’s too brief!
