Romans – God’s Perfect Plan

Holy Bible

It has been a long time since I spent time studying the Bible. I mean to really dig in and study a book in the Bible and not just reading. As I was going through my books to decide what to give away, I saw this book on Walking through the Letter of Romans in 50 days by David Cook, published by The Discovery House. I have this book for a while but it has been left on the bookshelf. I picked it up and decided to study it and target to complete this study before end of the year.

The Bible verses are not stated in the study guide, so I refer to my Bible. Instead of reading the electronic version on my iPad, I picked up my physical Bible. Felt awesome to flip the pages of the Bible, locate the book of Romans, which is right after the book of Acts and the book of Acts is right after the four Gospels. Time to switch back to the physical version.

Paul probably wrote the letter of Romans in AD 57, towards the end of his third missionary journey. This letter offers Paul’s fullest exposition on the all-important issue of righteousness – How a person can be in the right with God, and how a person can live a God-honouring righteous life.

The theme of the letter is found in the first chapter, verses 16 and 17

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “But the righteous man shall live by faith.”   Romans 1:16,17

The way to use the guide:

  1. Read as a companion along with the Bible as it offers explanatory notes to help understand the Scriptures in fresh ways
  2. Reflect upon the Scriptures with help from the questions in the guide
  3. Journal space to record thoughts and responses to the Scriptures

  1. Audrey I am happy that I decided to follow your blog. It is encouraging to read a post on faith.
In this day and age where people are moving away from faith, it is not easy to share about faith and one’s faith journey. Thank you for sharing this.

    1. Thank you for your encouraging words. At the point of writing and posting, I have no concern nor hesitation. After posting it, I started to wonder if any readers would feel offended. Your comment helps to assure me that I should not feel concern but just keep sharing. Thanks again. 🙂
