Shalom! Mount of Beatitudes

Mount of Beattitudes

Shalom!  Continuing our journey in Israel, if you missed my earlier post, check out Shalom! Israel

Our journey reliving the life of Jesus has started.  Our first stop is to Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus was believed to have delivered the Sermon on the Mount.

The Eight Beatitudes of Jesus
(Gospel of St Matthew 5:3-10)

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

In 1938, the current Roman Catholic chapel was built.  Pope John Paul II celebrated a mass at this site in March 2000.  The Jesus trail pilgrimage route connects the Mount to other sites from the life of Jesus which we relived at our trip in Israel.

Hillsong – Say The Word

As we are at the Mount of Beatitudes, I would like to share on Hillsong United, the Australia-based worship group, recent travel to the Holy Land to perform many of their songs.  Say The Word recorded live from the Mount of Beatitudes overlooking the Sea of Galilee.
